FAQ:
Q: How long will it take to get ROI on a new system?
A: You can expect to hit a break even point in about 5-14 years. If you are replacing a very old and inefficient system, with a brand new highly efficient system the break even happens sooner.
Q: How often should I change the filter?
A: For grocery store fiberglass filters, once per month. For 2 inch pleated filters, every 3 months. For 5 inch (Spaceguard) filters about every 6-8 months. For super high efficiency filters like the Trane CleanEffects™ whole house filter system needs to be maintained as little as 1 time per year.
Q: What could be the problem if my AC blows cool but not cold air?
A: Your condenser may be dirty so your condenser coils may need to be cleaned by a Batjer professional. After they are cleaned heat is transferred out of your home much more efficiently.
Q: What is SEER?
A: Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating (SEER) is a measurement of how much energy will be used to heat or cool your home. The minimum allowed SEER rating on a new system is 13 SEER. Let's say your old unit, when installed, was an 8 SEER and Batjer installs a 16 SEER. You can expect to use 50% less energy for the same amount of heating or cooling.
Q:Â Will a programmable thermostat reduce my energy bill?
A: Yes, programmable thermostats can reduce the energy used for air conditioning or heating by 5 to 30%. Programmable thermostats
save money by turning the air conditioner to a higher setting (or heater to a lower setting) when no one is present in the house.
Q: Why is my air conditioner blowing no cold air and the outside line from the unit is icing over?
A: There is either insufficient freon for the size of the system indicating a leak, or the pump is wearing to the point where it can no longer provide sufficient compression for the gas. In either case, a trained Batjer technician is required and should be able to provide an immediate diagnosis.
